Musical Rights in South Africa

There are many musicians, artists, songwriters/composers and recording artists in South Africa who don’t know their musical rights and subsequently lose out on royalty income.

The South African music industry is very complicated. Therefore, in order to stay ahead of everyone and to actually make a living out of music it is important to understand the terms, contracts, royalties, copyright law and organisations associated with it.

SAMRO, CAPASSO and SAMPRA are organisations every composer, author and recording artist should be signed to in order to receive Royalty Income. The link below is a very useful website page describing musical creator’s rights and why they should sign up with SAMRO.

Cosher Recording Studios offers Music Publishing services. We assist composers, authors and artists by taking a song and getting it out into the big wide world.

Feel free to ask us questions if you are still unsure of how things work.
